The explosive and violent two-part premiere of "The Bastard Executioner" Tuesday has given fans something to really cling to this new series.

Episode 3, titled "Effigy/Delw," will air on cable network FX next Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EDT, according to TV Guide.

Although the official description for next week's episode is vague, those who watched last week will know right away what it is talking about, considering all the character twists that took place and the sudden demise of what was thought to be the show's big bad.

According to Spoilers Guide, the next episode will feature Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones) officially carrying out his titular duty against his own morality and better judgment. He has a persona to live up to and if he is to keep his cover, he must do so without reservation or he could be instantly exposed.

The new victim is an unlikely suspect who has now been charged with treason against the state and the shire. Although Brattle is conflicted with what he must do, he will nevertheless perform his duty as the new executioner for the court.

What fans learned from the first two episodes this week on the show is that Brattle was a wounded war hero who appeared to be dead. But he encountered a vision while he lay dying on the field and that vision told him that he had a bigger purpose to serve, according to TVLine.

Cut then to his return home as a farmer and a pregnant wife. His life seemed to be perfect in every way and it also seemed to be everything that he had ever wanted. But when his wife was cut down mercilessly while he was away, his life takes on a new purpose for revenge. This of course leads him to court to portray a slain executioner where he can now carefully devise his plan to fruition.
