"Bones" will kick off a brand new season next month that will begin with Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) enjoying early retirement before Booth suddenly ends up missing.

As fans may recall, the married couple decided to trade in their crime-fighting careers at the Jeffersonian Institution for an alternative lifestyle during the Season 10 finale.

At the beginning of Season 11, fans will find Booth and Brennan living a peaceful life with their new son and non-dangerous job positions. However, their lives will be dramatically upended when Booth goes missing. Showrunner Michael Peterson told TVLine that Booth's disappearance will revolve around a family crisis that will have nothing to do with Pelant.

Peterson also teased that the matter will be resolved by the end of Episode 2, but the "impact of what happens will carry us through" Season 11.

The executive producer went on to reveal that Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) and Angela (Michaela Conlin) will face a huge challenge in their relationship.

"Episode 10 is going to redefine everything for them. It's going to shake their relationship up in a way I wouldn't want to go near spoiling," said the EP.

Furthermore, Peterson said that Booth and Brennan decided not to move out of Washington, D.C. "They talked about moving away, but it didn't quite happen. They're still in the same house when we open the season," he said.

Last month, Boreanaz opened up about why Booth will be missing in action when the long-running comedy begins on Oct. 1. In a statement, the series star said he was forced to take time off from work due to a health scare, after suffering a bad reaction to an antibiotic, which forced the storyline to revolve around Booth's disappearance.

"Nothing matters to me more than 'Bones,' so I was thrilled when the producers came up with a way for me to take a few extra weeks to recover from a personal health issue without delaying production ... I'm happy to say that I'm now feeling great and will be back to work tomorrow, and that our 11th season premiere will broadcast on schedule -- with me in it," said Boreanaz, according to TVLine.

Season 11 of "Bones" will premiere on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
