On March 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts players on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One will be able to play for the first time as three well-known villains from the first-person shooter series.

Three character packs in total will be made available to Call of Duty: Ghosts in the release on March 4. Out of the three, the most expensive character pack is the one for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 terrorist leader Vladamir Makarov, in the $3.99 Makarov Legend Pack which also includes weapon camo, patch, reticle, playercard and background. The other two villain personalization packs will be made available for $1.99; Modern Warfare 2's Imran Zakhaev and Ghosts' Gabriel T. Rorke. There will also be made available a $1.99 camouflage hazmat suit for multiplayer.

Next Tuesday, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will also receive four new personalization packs for $1.99 each. These will include a weapon camo, three reticles and an animated calling card. The designs have not been released but they packs have been given code names which suggest what will be in them. According to Polygon, "Beast is 'inspired by nature's most lethal predators;' Dead Man's Hand has an Old West gunslinger and card player theme; Octant is for racing fans; Weaponized 115 is based on developer Treyarch's zombie-filled Origins mode from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2."

For now, the personalization packs are only coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One at first but will later be released for other platforms as well. Black Ops 2 took some innovative steps to reinvent the formula, especially on the character creation front. Call of Duty: Ghosts has followed Black Ops 2 in terms of character creation by introducing the ability to fully customize the look of the multiplayer avatar, with dozens of head and uniform options plus the ability to play as a female character for the first time in the franchise.
