Netflix’s ‘Marvel's Luke Cage’ Cast News: 'Ray Donovan' Star Simone Missick Cast, Links Show to ‘Iron Man’
"Marvel's Luke Cage" on Netflix just cast Simone Missick, linking the show to the "Iron Man" franchise for the comic book super company.
USA Today reports Missick ("Ray Donovan") was added to the cast as Misty Knight. Fans of the Marvel comic books will know her as the woman detective who loses her arm and gets a new one built by Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Missick signed on to "Marvel's Luke Cage" in the main cast, which means her character will play a highly pivotal role in the series.
It has already been reported Mike Colter signed on to play the title character, a detective and superhero for hire following his breakout of prison, preceded by a botched experiment that had given him unbreakable skin and incredible super strength.
Frank Whaley also signed onto the series as Rafael Scarfe, another detective who will be partnering with Knight to investigate Cage and his questionable practices.
Krysten Ritter will be joining the cast as Jessica Jones, who will also have a self-titled series of her own on the streaming buffet platform.
Theo Rossi ("Sons of Anarchy") has signed on to portray Shades, who was originally announced as "Sonny." His character has deep ties to Cage's past and has a dark criminal element associated to him. It is unclear if he will portray the role as a villain or as a possible antihero kind of character.
Rosario Dawson will be reprising her role as Claire Temple on the show, which she first debuted on "Daredevil."
"Marvel's Luke Cage" will be the third of four Marvel franchise shows to be released on Netflix, with "Jessica Jones" being the second out of the gate this fall on Nov. 20. There is no word yet on when "Cage" will debut.
