'Fifty Shades Darker' News Update: Dakota Johnson Reveals Shoot Details
Dakota Johnson spoke with Ellen DeGeneres on Friday about the upcoming "Fifty Shades Darker," revealing that the film will start shooting at the beginning of next year, but that specific dates have not yet been given.
DeGeneres joked with Johnson about the film and gave the actress sex toys that she could use for the upcoming sequel. The actress also took the time to joke about the first film, "Fifty Shades of Grey," and the impact that it had on her career.
She told DeGeneres that it was harder to get dates after making the movie. She also revealed that her mother Melanie Griffith, father Don Johnson and grandmother Tippi Hedren had yet to see the movie, as she believes it is too awkward for them.
She also told DeGeneres about an experience she had in a taxi. "The driver said, 'You know my wife and I saw your film. We really liked it. I thought there could be more sex,'" Johnson said.
Johnson is currently promoting her latest film "Black Mass," in which she plays Johnny Depp's girlfriend. The actress has had a huge year, particularly for "Fifty Shades of Grey," which broke a number of records at the box office.
She also starred in the Venice Film Festival world premiere "A Bigger Splash." That movie will be released next May by Fox Searchlight.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is expected to also star Rita Ora, Jamie Dornan, Luke Grimes, Victor Rasuk and Eloise Mumford. The movie will continue the turbulent relationship between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. James Foley will direct the movie, with E.L James' husband Niall Leonard writing the script.
Dana Brunetti, Michael De Luca and James will produce the feature.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is expected to be released on Feb. 10, 2017 with another sequel scheduled for the next year.
