DC and Marvel have always been in competition as long as the comic book universe has been around. And why wouldn't they? Both companies want their superheroes to come out on top.

So it should not come to any surprise that actors and people involved in the opposing camps are now making comments about the competition's films in the media. The latest person to make some comment has been "Captain America: Civil War" actor Sebastian Stan, who repudiated director Zack Snyder for taking a shot at Marvel.

A week ago, Snyder responded to Steven Spielberg's comments that superhero movies would eventually die out by stating that he is working to make a superhero movie, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," that included superheroes that were "transcendent" and would never go away.

"I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they're Batman and Superman," said Snyder in an interview with The Daily Beast before taking a blatant shot at Marvel's cinematic universe. "They're not just, like, the flavor of the week 'Ant-Man' -- not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?"

Stan took exception to the comment recently fired right back, calling Snyder's latest effort an attempt to "mimic" the work of Christopher Nolan.

"But I would say we're still making something very original in our own way," Stan told Collider in response to Snyder's comments. "I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to and they're shaping it up and changing it in a very different way. They're not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that."

"Batman v Superman" and "Captain America: Civil War" come out in the first half of 2016 and will undoubtedly be vying for box office positions, so it should not be surprising to hear shots taken across the camps.

David Ayer, who is directing DC's "Suicide Squad," also had some choice words to ignite the competition which should linger for years to come.

Marvel was running away with the Comic Book market for the last few years with DC struggling to build up its own universe. However, the company is now working toward the same ultimate goal, which should eventually also draw some "flavor of the week" comments from the other camp. After all, DC will not be doing only Batman and Superman movies but will also tap into its own roster of characters.
