Divorces among the artistic elite is nothing new, after all chanteuse Janet Jackson has had to quash divorce rumors recently. However, this other couple's relationship situation is in a seriously dire situation. After the announcement of Robin Thicke and his wife's separation on Feb. 24, one of the two has been battling to keep the marriage working despite of his shortcomings.

On Thursday, during a concert in Fairfax, Va., Thicke made his feelings known by addressing the crowd. In his short speech he said, "For y'all that don't know, me and my wife separated, but I'm trying to get my girl back. She's a good woman." Yet, it was his wife of eight years, Paula Patton, who called for the separation. Of course, rumors are fluttering about why the couple broke up. Some say it came out of the blue, others that it was long coming, according to the Los Angeles Times.

It is reported by Us Weekly that one of the reasons behind split is the performance between Thicke and Miley Cyrus during the VMAs as well as Thicke reportedly grabbing a fan's rear end. According to one insider, "Robin begged Paula to stand by him until the controversy died down."

Soon before the announcement of their split, Thicke cancelled two concerts in Atlanta and Orlando to spend time with his 3-year-old son Julian, according to Us Weekly. However, the singer has not stopped trying to get back in his wife's good graces. The Los Angeles Times also reports that Patton's Hollywood Hills house has been receiving a large number of bouquets, all perhaps coming from a sad and desperate Thicke asking for forgiveness.
