FIBA Asia Championship 2015 Live Stream & Schedule: China & Korea Collide, Philippines Aiming to Bounce Back
Powerhouse teams China and Korea are set to collide, while Philippines will look to bounce back from a shocking defeat on Day 2 of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship in Changsha.
China and Korea are two of the favorites to win the title this year and both teams showed why during their tournament opener on Wednesday.
China cruised to an easy 91-42 win against Singapore to open their campaign with a bang. The host country dominated right from the opening quarter, which ended with them on top by 21 points, 26-5. They never looked back en route to the blowout win.
Zhai Xiaochuan led their attack with 13 points and nine rebounds to go along with two steals, while former NBA player Yi Jianlian added 12 points and eight boards for China.
On the other hand, Korea also kicked off their chase for a spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics on a high note, as they ran away with an 87-60 victory against Jordan in their tournament opener.
Yang Donggeun had an excellent all-around performance for Korea with 17 points on top of nine assists and seven rebounds, while Cho Sungmin led his team in scoring with 19 points, highlighted by his five three-pointers.
Meanwhile, Philippines, the runner-up during the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, will try to bounce back from their stunning defeat on Day 1. The Gilas Pilipinas squad will face Hong Kong on Wednesday night.
Philippines took a painful 75-73 loss to Palestine during their Group B matchup. Naturalized Filipino Andray Blatche had 21 points and 12 rebounds, but it was not enough to lead his team to a win after Palestine caught fire down the stretch to score a come-from-behind victory.
Hong Kong, on the other hand, opened their campaign on a positive note. Duncan Reid posted 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead Hong Kong to an 87-50 win against Kuwait on Day 1 of competition.
