Brendan Rodgers almost guided Liverpool to their first English Premier League title from 1990 to 2013, where they finished second and are only two points behind eventual winners Manchester City. However, the following season was not very good as the Reds failed to move past the Champions League Group Stages and just finished in sixth place in the league, qualifying only for the less prestigious Europa League.

The 18-time English champions are currently in the 13th position on the Barclays Premier League Table, having two wins, draws and losses each with only eight points after six games played. Rodgers' managerial position has been on thin ice since the last season, and more poor showings from the club until December could see the Northern Irishman looking for a new job.

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have already contacted former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian is one of the most decorated managers in the football world as he has won multiple league titles and Champions League trophies.

Ancelotti started his managerial career with Reggiana before moving to Parma then Juventus. He managed AC Milan from 2001 to 2009, guiding them to two Champions League wins and a Series A League title in 2004.  He was then hired by Chelsea, helping the Blues win the Premier League and FA Cup in 2010.

The 56-year-old then managed PSG to a Ligue 1 title win before ending up in Madrid, leading the Spanish-club to their 10th Champions League trophy or "La Decima." He was dismissed in Madrid and would have a year of sabbatical to recover from spinal stenosis before looking for a new home.

"I must have an operation because of spinal stenosis that for some time [sic] creates a tingle in my hands. I don't know how long the period of recovery will be. I can assure you that I've had plenty of offers from Italy, England, Germany. I'm sure they will not be lacking from here until next year," Ancelotti said as quoted by Il Giornale via BBC Sports

Liverpool supporters, on the other hand, want former Borussia Dortmund boss Jürgen Klopp as their next manager. A Liverpool fan site The Anfield Chat has even urged its 122,000 Twitter followers to dress up like the energetic German to try and convince the manager and owners on who they want to replace Rodgers with.

However, owners Fenway Sports Group have denied that they have contacted Carlo Ancelotti and Jürgen Klopp, as per FOX Sports. It is said that firing Rodgers right now is an "out of character" move by the American owners.
