‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 News: Major Character 'Jesus' Has Been Cast
"The Walking Dead" Season 6 has been progressing with the story from the original comic series, now casting the major pivotal character of Paul Monroe, also known as "Jesus" in the comics.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the character will be portrayed by Tom Payne, perhaps best known for his work on "Luck." Although he has been listed as recurring for Season 6, he also has a Season 7 option on his contract.
The character is major for the group of survivors, who fans have come to love over the past five years, given the show is rated No. 1 show and has a powerhouse audience dedicated to the weekly episodes.
Jesus is still alive in the comic series, for which new editions are still being churned out. Fans who keep up with the comic series know all too well his character is important to the group and his status will soon elevate.
It is unclear at this time if the show will be following closely to the comic series, given that the role of Negan as villain, whose presence signifies the death of a major character, has not yet made its way into the show.
Jesus hails from the Hilltop Colony and soon becomes a resident of the Alexandria Safe-Zone in the comic series. The character has been described as a reasonable man who always lets logic win out. He has a strong sense of morals and values that will ultimately play well with the rest of the group. He is unlike the other Alexandrians and is an expert on how to survive in the new world.
There are also rumors the introduction of Jesus means he is paving the way for the first glimpse of Negan, who will no doubt throw the show into turmoil.
