There's a lot to look forward to in Season 7 of "The Good Wife," which will include the addition of "Ugly Betty" star Vanessa Williams in a recurring role as Eli Gold's love interest.

While speaking to TVLine at the Emmys last Sunday, "The Good Wife" star Alan Cumming revealed that "Desperate Housewives" actress Vanessa Williams has been cast in an "arc" in the upcoming season as Eli's love interest.

According to CBS, Williams will play Courtney Boalt, "an extremely successful, self-made businesswoman who is potentially interested in backing Peter Florrick's (Chris Noth) campaign for President. In the process, she meets Eli, sparking a mutual attraction."

Show creators Robert and Michelle King also released a statement expressing their excitement about having Williams joined their cast.

"There are very few names you can put side-by-side that make you laugh. Alan Cumming and Vanessa Williams are at the top of that list. We couldn't be more excited," said the executive producers.

Meanwhile, Alicia Florrick will take on a case involving suspects seeking to make bail in bond court in order to revamp her legal career during the first episode of the new season. Julianna Margulies's character will first have to compete before she can represent the clients seeking to make bail in the Season 7 premiere, reports CarterMatt.

The synopsis for the first episode of the new season, which is titled "Bond," states that "Alicia attempts to revive her struggling law career by representing arrestees seeking release on bail in bond court, where she meets attorney Lucca Quinn [Cush Jumbo], who competes for her clients. Also, Peter brings in national strategist Ruth Eastman to help with his Presidential campaign, and creates an interesting dynamic with Eli in the process."

The new season of "The Good Wife" kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS.
