Although a recent poll suggests that self-described “democratic socialist” Bernie Sanders is gaining on Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former secretary of state still has 42 percent of the Democratic Primary voters.

Here, then, is a look at some of Clinton’s key positions.

Immigration Reform

Clinton supports a pathway to citizenship, particularly for young Latino immigrants.

To this end, her campaign has even released a video called "Sueños" ("Dreams”) wherein Clinton is seen meeting with a small group of young Latino immigrants for a roundtable discussion. "I'm not about to let anybody who can make a contribution to our economy and our society get thrown away," Clinton says.

Same-Sex Marriage

Although as recently as 2008, Clinton opposed same-sex marriage, CNN reported in April that Clinton spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod revealed the candidate’s new views on the subject, saying, "Hillary Clinton supports marriage equality."

Obamacare

Regarding the Affordable Care Act, Clinton wants to defend the healthcare legislation but would like to use her presidential powers to push for more services. According to the Huffington Post, Clinton said, "I want to strengthen the Affordable Care Act, because the truth is, it couldn't and it didn't solve all of our problems."

Gun Laws

While campaigning in the wake of the church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, Clinton expressed her views on guns in the culture.

The Washington Post reports that while talking to a group of supporters in Iowa City, Clinton said, “I’m going to speak out against the uncontrollable use of guns in our country because I believe we can do better.”

Abortion

Clinton is pro-choice, and has gone so far as to link anti-abortion candidates to terrorists.

Think Progress reports that in a recent speech given in Cleveland, Clinton criticized presidential candidates that have expressed their interest is banning abortion.

She said, “Now extreme views on women, we expect that from some of the terrorist groups, we expect that from people who don’t want to live in the modern world, but it’s a little hard to take coming from Republicans who want to be the president of the United States.”
