"Kingsman: The Secret Service" was arguably the breakout movie of 2014. The spy-action comedy was jam-packed with elaborately orchestrated violence and acrobatic stunts, shot in fast but fluid long takes. Apart from its entertaining brutality and absurd plot, the film surprisingly did well in making the audience care for the story's equally cartoonish characters.

This is especially the case with Agent Galahad played by Colin Firth. The role was tailor-made for Firth and the 55-year-old British actor put in a performance for the ages. Sadly, the character didn't make it out alive at the end of the film. While most assumed the character would not return for a sequel, Mark Millar, the author of "The Secret Service" comic book series, believed it could still happen.

IGN recently caught up with Millar to talk about plans for "Kingsman 2." The 45-year-old Scottish writer admitted that working Galahad into the sequel has been the creative team's primary concern.

"That's the conversation everyone's having right now, because part of what made that movie work is Colin. Colin's fantastic, it was a two-hander that film. You also want to have the integrity of the story, so if you are bringing him back, it has to make sense. That's where it is at the moment," explained Millar.

He also revealed that portions of the story have already been completed, but the first film's co-writers Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman are still hard at work in finishing out the rest of the sequel's screenplay.

While the screenwriters haven't figured out a specific way to include Firth in the sequel, the actor's return would still make sense within the quirky "Kingsman" universe. Some of the outlandish ways that Agent Galahad can be brought back to "Kingsman" is by having Firth play as a twin character or be featured in flashback sequences.

"It's funny because there's a lot of conversations like that, like should he have an evil brother, Colin with a mustache? Or is he a ghost or whatever? The guys have a plan. I can't spoil it just now because the final decision is still to be made," said Millar.

The Scottish writer then went on to cite Matthew Vaughn's previous work in "Layer Cake," "Kick-Ass" and "X-Men: First Class" as the reasons why "Kingsman 2" is in good hands.

Only time will tell if Firth or Agent Galahad will indeed be brought back for a "Kingsman" sequel. Fans of the first movie will surely be delighted to see the suit-and-spectacle-wearing gentleman on the big screen again.

"Kingsman 2" is expected to release sometime in 2017.
