The Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week became the latest team to roll out new uniforms.

The new uniform, which is significantly different than the old one that featured a heavy dose of red colors, has not exactly emerged yet as an immediate fan favorite. The lighter colored uniform features a white front and black on the shoulder pads. The red color that dominated the previous uniform is only sprinkled into certain areas of the uniform such as the numbers and the pants. The helmet still features a large Buccaneers flag -- perhaps as a way to make up for the lack of red elsewhere on the uniform -- but it will most certainly be interesting to see how people react down the road.

The uniform seems by the idea of throwback uniforms, a process that has emerged as a staple among professional sport teams as a way to sell a unique and new kind of design to fans that have grown bored with the current designs.

Furthermore, the uniform is very reminiscent of the now-defunct XFL league that surfaced in the early 2000s before it flopped entirely. The numbers on the new Bucs uniform is particularly the part that looks a lot like the XFL logo that we would see back in 2001.

What will also be interesting to see in future seasons is whether or not other teams follow the same pattern as the Bucs with the new uniform. Will it emerge as a trend among teams?
