The HTC introduced its HTC One smartphone to world a year ago, and like all technology these days, it's in need of an upgrade.

The technology publication TechAdvisor reported Monday that HTC is rumored to announce the release of the second generation to its popular and well-received flagship phone on March 25 in London.

HTC tweeted Friday "Simple is beautiful. You'll see for yourself on 3/25," along with the photo posted above. Initially, HTC was expected to announce the HTC One 2 release at the Mobile World Congress tech show in Barcelona last week but did not happen.

According to TechAdvisor, which got its information from a leaked photo by @evleaks, the rumor is all conjecture at this point but remains confident that the March 25 conference will be about HTC One's recent upgrade, codenamed M8. However, M8 is not the official name of the phone as it is unclear what the actual name of the successor will be.

The price of the phone is also unclear but it's safe to say it will probably cost around the same as the original from last year, which started off at £500, roughly $800 in the U.S.

The current model is selling for anywhere between $49.99 and $199.99 with two-year contracts, and about $499.99 without the contract.

Other rumors TechAdvisor reported is that the new HTC will include a 5-inch Full HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, on-screen buttons and Android 4.4 KitKat.

The phone will also utilize two camera sensors and a dual-tone LED flash similar to the iPhone 5s and it will use the Sense UI 6.0.

The phone is expected come in silver and gray as well as pale gold.

According to @evleaks, HTC will also release a mini version of the M8 that will feature a 4.5-inch 720p screen. The mini version will also come with a 13Mp camera and a Snapdragon 400 processor.
