Capcom recently announced that the release of "Ultra Street Fighter 4" will allow players to choose different versions of characters using the Edition Select Mode. IGN reports the announcement was made by Capcom's Peter "Combofiend" Rosas during the Southern California Regionals 2014.

With the new feature, versions of characters from the "Street Fighter 4", "Super Street Fighter 4", "Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition", "Arcade Edition 2012", and "Ultra Street Fighter 4" games can be chosen by gamers.

To be fair though, Rosas added that choosing other versions of characters affects their abilities. For instance, players who choose Sagat from "Street Fighter 4" can inflict higher levels of damage, but can only access the character's Tiger Genocide combo.

Also, Alex Jebailey, organizer of the annual competition Community Effort Orlando, clarified that players who are active in the "Street Fighter 4" tournament scene won't be able to use the Edition Select until 2015. He tweeted, "As of now edition select won't be available at #ceo2014. Gonnabe sticking to strictly Ultra SF4 for official tourney play. Maybe in 2015."

According to the game's website, "Ultra Street Fighter 4" will be released in June for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with a retail price of $39.99. PC users can get their hands on the game in August for $29.99. On the other hand, those who own "Street Fighter 4" can download the "Ultra" version for $14.99.

The game has a total of 44 characters, which includes five new additions: Poison, Hugo, Elena, Rolento, and a fifth mystery character. IGN speculated that the fifth character might be revealed during the Final Round 17 which will be held in Atlanta, GA, from March 14 to 16. Shoryuken Wiki has a complete list of the characters along with their various abilities.

"Ultra" will also be featuring six new environments such as Pitstop 109, Mad Gear Hideout, Cosmic Elevator, Blast Furnace, Half Pipe, and Jurassic Era Research facility.
