'Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens' Rumors: What's Han Solo's Fate?
While there are still two months until the release of "Star Wars: Episode VII -- The Force Awakens," new rumors have surfaced.
After it was denied Harrison Ford's Han Solo was going to die in the new film, the rumor has resurfaced with many sources stating the character will indeed get killed off in the new film.
According to Metro a film source has confirmed Han will be murdered. It was originally claimed a scene had been filmed that saw Han confront the new villain Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver). During that scene Ren supposedly finished off the famed hero.
It's not the first time rumors on a J.J. Abrams picture are denied and then end up being the truth. Before the release of "Star Trek Into Darkness," the director denied Benedict Cumberbatch would be playing the villainous role of Khan.
However, when the movie was released and critics had seen it, it was indeed Khan who Cumberbatch was playing. Abrams has had a reputation of keeping his films tightly secured but with all the social media posts and Internet, it has become increasingly difficult to hide such crucial details and spoilers. In some way many directors have embraced social media giving hints of their films. For example Bryan Singer was active on Instagram during the filming of "X-Men: Apocalypse." He frequently posted pictures of actors revealing sets and costumes.
Killing off Han Solo is nothing new to "Star Wars" lore. Ford famously wanted Han Solo to die in "Episode VI -- Return of the Jedi."
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is set to open on Dec. 18 and stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels and Max Von Sydow.
The movie's plot details have not yet been revealed. Disney is expected to release a new trailer in the next weeks in anticipation for the release of the movie. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is expected to break records when it opens nationwide.
