The next Google Nexus 6 was announced Tuesday at a Google event.

The phablet-style phone will be made by Chinese manufacturer Huawei and will be called the Nexus 6P.

Google decided to make the next Nexus 6 a little smaller than the almost 6-inch 2014 model. The Nexus 6P will have a 5.7-inch screen, while the 2014 Nexus 6 had a 5.96-inch screen. It will also be narrower than the Nexus 6 at 77.8 mm and weigh less at 178 grams, TechRadar reports.

The large screen on the Nexus 6P will display a Quad-HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels or 518 pixels per inch. This makes the screen on the Nexus 6P one of the best available for a smartphone, including the Samsung Galaxy S6, the LG G4 and even the 4K Sony Xperia Z5.

The Nexus 6P will use the 2.0 GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and will include 3 GB of RAM. This will allow Android's latest operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, to run efficiently and quickly.

The camera on the Nexus 6P has improved by offering quality low-light pictures. The 12.3 megapixel (MP) camera is low compared to other Android phones, but the 1.55 macro pixels is what will help this camera take excellent pictures, even in low light situations, such as indoors. There will not be any optical image stabilization (OIS), but there is a laser autofocus.

The battery on the Nexus 6P will be even bigger than it was on the Nexus 6. The 3,450 mAh battery should offer more usage time for the powerful device. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will also cut down on power usage, resulting in better battery life than the Nexus 6's 3,220 mAh. Additionally, the smaller screen should help too.

The Nexus 6P will be offered in three storage varieties 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The 32 GB version will cost $499, the 64 GB version will cost $549 and the 128 GB version will cost $649. Pre-orders are starting now and the phone will likely ship sometime in October.
