The Super Mario family keeps growing and growing. Nintendo served a release date for "Mario Tennis Ultra Smash" and fans will be happy to hear it's due to be out by Nov. 20.

The video game company announced the good news on their official Twitter account, saying, "And the crowd goes wild! #MarioTennis Ultra Smash launches exclusively for #WiiU on 11/20!"

"Ultra Smash" is part of the extensive Mario Tennis series, but according to VG247, the upcoming game is the first home console Mario tennis game since the "Mario Power Tennis" on GameCube in 2004. It's also the series' much-awaited debut on Wii U.

In Nintendo's official posting of the game on their website, more details are revealed including the inclusion of Mega Mushrooms for those who want a "big" advantage (make the characters grow significantly bigger) during a match, plus a new move dubbed the "Jumpshot," "which sends the ball flying down the court."

Singles matches, doubles matches and a new mode "Mega Battles" are expected to offer some variety, although no other modes have been revealed.

What's particularly interesting for long-time fans of the Super Mario universe is the promise of new characters making their debut in the upcoming sports game. There's no mention which beloved character from the Mushroom Kingdom will be appearing in "Ultra Smash" aside from the usual Mario Tennis suspects Mario, Bowser and Peach.

Nintendo announced the new Mario Tennis game last summer during the E3 2015, even unveiling the first trailer for "Ultra Smash" for the audience. The video showcased the beloved game with the familiar characters and the distinctly powerful gameplay on the court.

Although the game hasn't been at the forefront of the video game circuit this season — with plenty of major releases set for the same launch date — the reviews of demos have been very positive in favor of the new "Ultra Smash".

A review by Jason Fanelli from Arcade Sushi called the upcoming "Mario Tennis" installment fun and highlighted the advantage of the Mega Mushroom for all ages.

"Franchise purists need not worry, as the typical Mario Tennis experience is still here and untouched, but those who don't mind a little experimentation are bound to have some fun," he wrote. "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash looks to fill the role that every Mario sports game does: friendly and wholesome fun for all ages with Mario and his many friends."

The "Mario Tennis Ultra Smash" for Wii U will retail for $49.99, according to the game's official website. It will be launched on Friday, Nov. 20.
