BBC dropped a new trailer last week, showcasing the network's upcoming Autumn/Winter program lineup. Among the many shows featured in the trailer, the highly anticipated "Sherlock" Christmas special appeared.

Brief and intriguing, the trailer shows just a few snippets from the upcoming Christmas special. The standalone story for the "Sherlock" episode deviates from modern era, by setting the episode in Victorian London.

The trailer modestly shows Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) smoking a pipe while uttering the words, "From the beginning then." Also, near the 30-second mark, Sherlock and his comrade Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) are shown stepping out of a horse drawn carriage.

Executive producer Steven Moffat teased about the upcoming special during an interview with Collider, saying, "It is a Christmas-ish special. It will be around that time of year. I'm not being vague because I'm evil. I just don't know. It won't be Christmas day 'cause that's too crowded now, but it will be somewhere around that period. So, it's a sort of Christmas special. We keep calling it the Christmas special, and there's a Christmas-y element in it, but it's not really. You could put it in the middle of summer and it would be fine."

The quick trailer also showcases a number of other shows that will appear on this upcoming Autumn and Winter, such as "War and Peace," "Luther," "The Hunt," "EastEnders," "River," and Dame Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None."

During that same interview with Collider, Moffat said the script for the upcoming season of "'Sherlock' is currently unfinished, and Mark Gatiss "will be starting very soon." He then added, "He may have started. I've got to finish my 'Doctor Who' Christmas special, and then I'll be straight onto 'Sherlock' after that. We haven't started, but we've planned. We know what we're doing. Or we think we know what we think we're doing."

According to Moffat, they will likely begin shooting next year, around "April-ish." He also answered the question every "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock" super-fan was has asked countless times within resent years: Will there be a crossover episode? Fairly decisively, he stated, "It's not going to happen. That's just the truth of it."

The Sherlock special will air on PBS' Masterpiece "soon-ish."
