It has been revealed that One Direction's Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson are the highest-earning members of the British boyband.

Songwriters traditionally receive 9 percent of each song's royalties. The creative duo already co-wrote many of the group's massive hits, writing nearly half of the songs on their latest album, Midnight Memories. In other words, Payne and Tomlinson each will earn a larger royalty cut, compared to their fellow bandmates, because of their songwriting skills.

Each of their band members also has co-writing credits on their successful third studio album -- Harry Styles was credited on four of its 14 tracks, Niall Horan on two and Zayne Malik on one song, which is the album's second single, "Story of My Life."

According to Liam Payne, he and Louis Tomlinson will be getting an extra cut of the profits in the future, as they continue to focus on writing music. "Louis and I have a little partnership going on. We've been pretty keen to start writing straight away," he said. "I've been in the studio already, it's been going really well. Learning how to write is the best way of ensuring your career has longevity and that you have control over it."

"I really think the next album is going to be a game-changer for us," he added. "I'm excited."

One Direction are believed to be worth $100 million as a group, after amassing significant music sales and revenue, a 130-date world tour, merchandise, branded perfume, as well as their own duct tape.
