One lucky person has become an instant millionaire after purchasing a $1 million Mega Millions lottery ticket in New Jersey earlier this week.

On Tuesday, one fortunate person won the $1 million Mega Millions drawing in the Garden State, reports NJ.com. The winning marked the third consecutive time that someone in New Jersey won a national lottery drawing.

NJ Lottery officials reported that the winning ticket was sold in South Jersey on Tuesday, according to Patch.com.

The lucky numbers were 8, 21, 30, 61 and 62, while the Mega Ball was 9. Tuesday's lucky New Jersey ticket only matched five numbers and not the Mega Ball. Fortunately, the winner won't have to worry about splitting their prize since the $1 million Mega Millions ticket was the only one sold across the country to match five numbers.

In addition, no one in the country hit the jackpot, which means that the top prize for Friday's drawing will be $47 million with a cash option of $29 million.

Last week, a $1 million Powerball ticket was sold in Cape May while a $1 million Mega Millions ticket was purchased in Monmouth county on consecutive nights.

The overall odds of winning any prize are about 1-in-15, but the odds of winning the jackpot are about 1-in-259 million.

Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday after the draw entry closes at 10:45 p.m. EDT. Tickets are sold in 43 states, in addition to the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

There are nine ways to win the Mega jackpots, which start at $15 million, and it only costs $1 to get in the game. According to the website, Mega Millions is the biggest jackpot game in the country.

You can watch a live stream of the lottery drawings at 11 p.m. EDT below.
