'Super Smash Bros' Update: New DLC Brings Pirate Ship, Super Mario Maker Stages
Nintendo unveils a special surprise for all the fans of "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U as a new DLC for the best-selling fighting game is now available.
In the official "Super Smash Bros." website, two content packs were released on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The first one is the much-hyped "Super Mario Maker" stage has been recently announced, and the other is dubbed the "Pirate Ship", which is a surprise release by the makers of the Nintendo game.
The "Super Mario Maker" stage has been a hotly anticipated release after its announcement in September. A previous report from Latin Post reveals that the stage is a constant evolution with a variety of landscapes and layouts changing every — and even during — games. This way, going back to the stage is a different experience every time with an endless potential for fun and excitement.
The "Super Mario Maker" DLC stage is available for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS for $2.49 for the game on each platform. Those who want the option to play on both platforms may get the bundled version, which is priced at $3.49.
On the other hand, the surprise "Pirate Ship" DLC stage is exclusive to the Wii U for the time being. According to a report from Game Rant, the stage is inspired by "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker," the action-adventure game made for GameCube back in 2003. It's not the first time this particular stage made an appearance in "Super Smash Bros." as it became a fan-favorite as part of the "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" in 2008.
The description on the official website describes the stage as a "maritime melee on the Great Sea." Fans who would like to take their battles to the high sea can pick up the DLC for Wii U for $1.99.
Other DLC releases that coincide with the two stages include a wide selection of new Mii Fighter costumes such as the Business Suit, Toad Hat and Outfit inspired by "Super Mario," Viridi Wig and Outfit from the "Kid Icarus: Uprising," Hunter's Helm and Mail from "Monster Hunter 4" and more.
Each costume costs $0.75 each for either Wii U or 3DS and $1.15 for both. There is also a special bundle for all the costumes priced at $5.25 for a single platform purchase and $8.05 for the multi-platform option.
There will be fans who want all of the content that's been recently released and there's also a bundle that offers a special price for everything new: $7.74 for the Nintendo 3DS, $9.73 USD for the Wii U and $13.53 for the content on both platforms.
