Naughty Boy Talks Zayn Malik Feud, Says He Misses His Friendship
Shahid Khan, best known as Naughty Boy, recently opened up about his spat with Zayn Malik on Twitter. The music producer also mentioned how despite their feud, he misses the former One Direction's friendship.
In an exclusive interview with The Guardian at his recording studio in his parents' home in Watford, U.K., Naughty Boy talked about how his online feud with Malik started. He was accused of being the reason for Zayn's exit from One Direction, after reports claimed they were collaborating on a new song together.
However, the 30-year-old music producer explained there was no such thing. Instead, he and Malik were just hanging out together as what "mates" normally do.
"People thought we were cooking something, plotting - we were just chilling. Swear. He just left the biggest pop band in the world, he needed a mate and I was a mate," he said.
Naughty Boy explained that he and Malik "we're in a bubble and didn't realise the magnitude" of what their actions brought, especially to One Direction fans. Despite the fact that Zayn insulted and pretended not to know him on Twitter, Naughty Boy said he misses his friendship with the singer.
"Our friendship was genuine, 100%. With Zayn, it was different because we were genuinely best friends doing the best friend thing. You won't see me do that with anyone else," he told The Guardian.
The pair was supposed to work together on a Bollywood soundtrack. They had been approached by Shah Rukh Khan, who was working on "Dilwale 2." But since their fallout, Naughty Boy lost the interest.
When asked if he misses the singer, he admitted that he did for a bit, since they used to always hang out together in Malik's house or at his studio. But Naughty Boy believes that things with him and Zayn will eventually resolve, since he believes their "friendship was real."
Despite practically being brushed off by Zayn as an acquaintance, Naughty Boy only have nice things to say about the singer. As parting words, he told The Guardian that the music industry should watch out for Malik's comeback, because he is "incredibly talented and his voice is amazing."
According to Daily Mail, Malik and Naughty Boy's Twitter feud started after Louis Tomlinson called out the producer for his friendship with Zayn. The former One Direction singer initially defended Naughty Boy but turned on him after the fans rallied their support for Tomlinson.
