Singer Selena Gomez announced on Thursday that she will be going on tour next year to promote her upcoming album "Revival."

The singer surprised fans when she posted a video on her Instagram account revealing that she would be going on a world tour. The tour, named after the album, will take the 23-year-old around the United States and Canada throughout May and July of 2016.

Gomez captioned the video with, "The rumors are true... #REVIVALTour coming 2016! Visit https://smarturl.it/RevivalTour for info on early tix & stay tuned for more!"

According to Flare magazine, while Gomez has toured before, her "Revival" tour will be different. The star has recently taken control of the music she puts out by ending her contract with Hollywood Records, a division of Disney Music Group, and signing with Interscope Records.

"I asked if I could executive-produce it, and I didn't know what they were going to say, but they liked the direction of the music and trusted me," Gomez said of her Interscope partnership. "That was a big deal, because they were partnering with me as opposed to trying to mould me or shape me into something. Now that the record's done, I look at it and I'm excited that it was all me. It was all my choice."

Since releasing "Good For You," the first single off of "Revival," Gomez has shown off a more sexy side. In the single's music video, the singer is featured showering and wearing a wet t-shirt, while singing about being good for her partner.

While some outlets have criticized the star for the new sex appeal, she remains confident about her mature side.

"I have my own definition of what I think is beautiful and sexy. That's why, in the video, I didn't wear lingerie and I didn't have a guy in it. It's a woman in one of those raw, bare moments; she's vulnerable, and that's sexy," said Gomez, who added that she would never promote something she doesn't care about.

Tour dates will be announced on the singer's official website early next week. Gomez's fifth studio album, her second without the band The Scene, will be released on Oct. 9.
