Justin Bieber Smokes Weed on Stage in New Zealand
Justin Bieber was caught smoking weed and drinking alcohol on stage during a performance in New Zealand on Thursday.
The "What Do You Mean" 21-year-old singer was performing at a show in Auckland on Thursday, sharing the stage with hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd. During the performance, he whipped out a joint and lit it, according to TMZ. He also took out a bottle of Hennessy, taking swigs from it and dumping some of the liquor onto the stage.
A fan uploaded a video of the incident online, and Bieber, who admitted he was "drunk," shared the video on his Instagram account.
The singer later admitted he regretted his behavior on stage and said he only participated in the shenanigans to carry out a dare.
Weed was one of the substances that led to Bieber's previous DUI arrest and original downward spiral of unruly behavior. The singer was arrested for driving under the influence in Miami and also tested positive for marijuana last year.
"I came into the music industry at 13," Bieber said in an interview with Cosmopolitan last month. "I was trying to trust people and they'd break my heart at 15. You have your perceptions of people. There are awesome people who are the lovely, amazing, joyful kind."
''But I only saw people who are sh*tty and were taking advantage of me," Bieber continued. "When you have that perspective, the way you act changes. I was basically like, 'F*ck everybody.' Then I started doing my own thing. I got into a little bit of trouble -- nothing that other 20-year-olds don't get into -- just rebelling a little bit."
Bieber has maintained that, now that he's older and has gone through troubled times, he's not interested in repeating that phase of his life.
''Now, being 21, I'm coming into my own and around some pretty cool people who are not afraid to tell me what's real," he said.
