'Avengers 3: Infinity Wars' Rumors, Release Date, Spoilers: Team To Be Dismantled At End of "Infinity Wars?"
Marvel looks to be rebooting "The Avengers" after the "Infinity Wars."
During an event at the Los Angeles' Hero Complex Gallery Marvel president Kevin Feige and Avengers producer Jeremy Latcham spoke about the future of the franchise and the upcoming battle against the Infinity Stones.
Latcham and Feige revealed that the end of Phase Three may be the end of many franchises and the end of a specific team. Latcham said, "Phase Three is definitely an end to some version of the team we've come to know as The Avengers. The team will always be evolving. The roster is always changing. You may pick up an Avengers book 10 years later and not recognize the people on the cover...It's not going to be the end of the Marvel cinematic universe, certainly, but it will be an end to part of it."
It would not be shocking as the comics generally do the same thing and always have different incarnations of the beloved characters. However, it is mostly due to the fact that contracts for many of the stars will soon end. For example Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans' contracts are soon to end and it is questionable about whether they will return for any more Marvel films.
Marvel may want to try different incarnations after seeing the success of Fox's latest "X-Men" origin films that have become huge hits and have also showcased new actors. However, it is still too far out to predict where the company will take its cinematic world.
During the conference, the two also spoke about the evolution of their iconic roster moving into and the plans for Phase three of the films. The two revealed that the Infinity Stones will be complete by the time "Infinity Wars" hits theaters especially since Thanos needs to gain the ultimate power. Feige said, "You will absolutely see the other two [Infinity Stones] sometime in Phase Three. After all, there's a Gauntlet that needs to be filled."
Feige also added that the story began after "Iron Man 2" and he admits that the genesis of the plotline was not perfectly laid out and that some of the plots are not consistent. However both Feige and Latcham admitted that the most important thing is for the filmmakers and their audience to have fun.
Regarding the Infinity stones, Feige added, "We always knew going into 'Age of Ultron' that the stone in Loki's scepter that would eventually end up in Vision's head."
During the conference Feige admitted he was also excited for the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy" sequel. He said, "Certainly Thanos and the Infinity Stones are the connection between all these movies. Especially Guardians. When and if those specific characters start switching remains to be seen. The Guardians 2 team just left for Atlanta on Monday to start the movie, so all our effort and thought is going directly into that -- which is shaping up very nicely right now."
Marvel is gearing up for next year's slate which includes "Captain America: Civil War" and "Doctor Strange."
