President Obama will provide specific information about how the new healthcare law will affect Latinos in a nationally televiseid press conference at 11:30 on Thursday.

The event will be broadcast live at fusion.net at 11:30 a.m. for those of you on the East Coast of the United States.

The "Get Covered America" campaign, which has helped the Latino population with outreach, enrollment, and more, is the backbone behind this press conference.

Perhaps the main reason why the President is going through with this press conference is because of the fact that many Latinos have not signed up for Obamacare. As noted by The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, only about one third of the Latino population in the United States has signed up for Obamacare. Just under 20 percent of the United States population is Latino.

There are a number of possible reasons why so many Latino people have not yet signed up for the new healthcare. Besides the possible language barrier that could exist for some people, others are worried about the risk for undocumented immigrants.

Margarita Sanchez, who spoke to Politico about the issue, said that many people in the Latino community were not properly informed of the law and said that the technical difficulties with the website finally gave everyone a chance to do some research. However, the hesitation among many is seen as an issue that could be related to worries that the government might deport them or their relatives if they find out too much information.

"We're already at a disadvantage when our families do not trust," she said to Politico. "That's why we have to work twice as hard to make sure that they understand that we're there to give them a helping hand."
