Will Smith’s First Song in Decades is a Collaboration With Colombian Band [Watch]
For the first time in over a decade, Will Smith has returned to his roots as a rapper and released a new single in collaboration with a Grammy award-winning group.
According to Yahoo! Music, Smith has taken on a project that remixes one of Colombian band Bomba Estereo's greatest hits, "Fiesta."
The song is an aggregation of the genres, fusing hip-hop with the eclectic sound of Latin pop that fervently rings of Smith's signature sound as a party mix singer.
Smith burst on the scene in the early '90s as the frontman for the duo buddy group DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. One of his original songs, "Nightmare on My Street," gained some small time notoriety and gave him the exposure that young aspiring entertainers need to make it big on the celebrity stage.
He was then carted off to the Hollywood wonderland and enjoyed success as an actor on the highly successful NBC series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."
His career in Hollywood was soaring through the '90s and early millennia, but he cooled off his heels in the music industry after he released the 2005 album "Lost and Found."
Needless to say, he has made a triumphant return with his new collaboration remix track "Fiesta." The sounds and vibrant lyrics reflect the times and the party echoes from his younger years. He was even able to throw in a mention of actress Sofia Vergara and the new Tesla cars in the song.
