If a new rumor from China is to be believed, Xiaomi's next generation flagship phablet is just around the corner.

According to the official Weibo page of tipster @Leaksfly, via Mobile-dad, the Mi Note 2 will sport a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 touchscreen display and is expected to release next month.

The tip has corroborated with the previous speculation claiming that the Mi Note 2 is the sequel to Mi Note Pro, one of Xiaomi's top-tier models. Both devices have the same physical size, resolution and pixel density of 515 ppi.

It can be remembered that Xiaomi released the Mi Note Pro in May 2015 to challenge Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's Galaxy Note 4.

The phablet featured Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor with the Adreno 430 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It featured a micro-USB port, LED notification light and the Android 5.0 Lollipop underneath Xiaomi's MIUI OS, Android Authority reported.

The prior device had a metal and glass construction with 2.5D glass on the front, 3D glass on the back and a dual-edge design at the corners.

Now, the fresh rumor indicated that the Mi Note 2 will carry over much of the Mi Note Pro's design while a majority of its enhancements and changes can be found internally.

The tipster stated that the Mi Note 2 will still have a metal body, but its rear camera is now bulked up to 16 megapixels, three megapixels higher than the Mi Note Pro's. Furthermore, the newer phablet has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner by Qualcomm and runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow right off the box.

Qualcomm announced its improved mobile fingerprint technology in March 2015. "Snapdragon Sense ID" utilizes ultrasonic waves to authenticate fingerprints in 3D. The newer system is a far cry from the older "Touch ID" since it can detect fingerprints even if they are slightly moist or dirty, as per The Verge.

The newer system has the ability to record even the outer layers of skin. It sculpts three-dimensional details of fingerprint characteristics such as fingerprint ridges and sweat pores placement. Qualcomm's upgraded technology makes it close to impossible for intruders to gain access to "Snapdragon Sense ID" devices.

The Mi Note 2's new fingerprint scanner is a foregone conclusion, considering the fact that the phablet will run on the Android 6.0 M. Google's latest operating system brings extra support for the said feature. It also boasts enhanced heads-up notifications, windows animations and overall system performance.

Lastly, Android Headlines pointed out that Android 6.0 M adds "Google Now on Tap" and "Android Pay" to Android-based devices.

Other rumored specs of the Mi Note 2 include MediaTek's Helio X20 processor, 32GB internal memory and support for 4G LTE connectivity.

Xiaomi's next generation flagship phablet will reportedly be released this coming Nov. 5.
