The bad guy is anyone's wild guess at this point in "Quantico." Every character is a suspect. It's one of the main draws of ABC's newest hit thriller and the identity of the terrorist is a closely guarded secret.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Quantico" showrunner Josh Safran let a few details slip on each of the main characters of the series. With all of the new agent trainees (NATs) harboring deep secrets, anybody could be the face behind what the show called "the biggest terrorist attack since 9/11."

This show will refrain from making the main protagonist the bad guy as Safran was quick to shut down rumors that it's Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra), who orchestrated the whole thing, saying, "But I can tell people watching the show now that Alex is not the terrorist."

Everyone else is fair game. Safran called Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin) "one of the least likely suspects," but said it's possible this will change. After all, he's connected to one of the most mysterious characters, Liam O'Conner (Josh Hopkins), who's going behind the director Miranda Shaw's (Aunjanue Ellis) back with his missions.

Shaw, who saved Alex's life at the end of the pilot episode, looks to be innocent in the terrorist plot, but that doesn't mean the FBI director doesn't have skeletons in her closet, as Safran revealed she recruited twins Nimah and Raina Amin (Yasmine al Massri) for "a specific purpose" that's currently a mystery.

Still, Safran felt confident in saying Booth, O'Connor and Shaw are "in a safe spot," hinting the suspects are one of the other characters.

The Amin twins are worth keeping an eye on, although Shaw's endorsement lends some credence to their secret. Also a mystery is Simon Asher (Tate Ellington), who Safran described as "the person you can't really tell who they are because they're so many different things at once."

Blonde and beautiful Shelby Wyatt (Johanna Braddy) is primed for a deadly edge as well. Acccording to Safran, she told a lie in the pilot that's going to be fleshed out and her suspicious caller in the second episode is just as important to note for future episodes.

Golden boy Caleb Haas (Graham Rogers) is another privileged trainee who came back as an analyst after being kicked out of Quantico in the pilot. In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Safran said his new FBI role will revisit old family issues, and his alias Mark Raymond is only "the beginning of the trail of breadcrumbs".

Finally, the exec revealed that it's entirely possible the mastermind hasn't been spotted on the show yet.

"It's important to note that you'll meet other NATs as the season progresses," Safran pointed out. "We look at it much like​ 'Lost' in that you're meeting new people from different rows of the plane as the series progresses, so you're meeting new trainees, and the trainees are just as much suspects as anyone you meet in the pilot."
