José Reyes could end up back in New York, but not in a Mets uniform, suggests Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York.

The former Mets shortstop, who now plays for the Toronto Blue Jays, still has four more years remaining on his contract but the Yankees could still trade for him. New York wouldn't necessarily need him right away considering that they still have veteran Derek Jeter for one more season, but there are all sorts of risks involved with Jeter -- case in point, he missed a great deal of time last season.

"Everyone is going to miss [Jeter], for sure," Reyes said. "Not just as a player, but as a person more. He's an unbelievable guy. I'm glad to share the same field with him. Like when I played in New York, I shared the same city with Jeter. He is a role model."

Perhaps part of the reason why people might think a return to New York would be in the works for Reyes is because he still lives in New York and spent a great deal of his career there. The 31-year-old is not exactly young anymore, however, and he has endured several injuries during his career.

All things considered, fans are still not sure whether the Yankees should make the trade and this makes sense because fans want to focus on watching Jeter in his 2014 campaign, which he says will be his last. According to an ESPN Sports Nation poll, only 54 percent of fans said that they believed the Yankees should try to trade for him while 46 percent said the opposite.
