"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" actors Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence have incredible chemistry on and offscreen. The pair has been romantically linked throughout the movie franchise, but in real-life, Hemsworth was engaged to Miley Cyrus, and Lawrence was dating "X-Men" co-star Nicholas Hoult then Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

Now that both actors are single, OK! magazine reports the two have grown closer.

"Jen's calling Liam all the time, especially at night," a source said.

Since the "Hunger Games" film franchise launched in 2012, the co-stars have developed a close relationship. Lawrence's character Katniss kissed Hemsworth's character Gale in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1." The unrequited love between the characters has won the hearts of fans who would love to see the actors as a couple in real life.

There has been flirting between the two while not on set. A photographer captured Lawrence playfully touching Hemsworth's face during Comic-Con International 2015 at the Hilton Bayfront on July 9 in San Diego, California.

More recently, Hemsworth played Chubby Bunny with Lawrence on MTV's "Camp Mockingjay."

Lawrence had filled her mouth with eight marshmallows. Hemsworth shoved two more into her mouth while whispering, "Come on, get in there."

Last year, Lawrence gushed to E! News about Hemsworth whom she referred to as her best friend.

"I guess the thing that surprised me is that I would never expect to ever have a man this good-looking ever be my best friend," Lawrence said of Hemsworth.

"I just would never assume those things could happen, but he is. He's the most wonderful, lovable, family-oriented, sweet, hilarious, amazing guy."

The "Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2" actress said that her co-star always sticks up for her.

"He's good about making sure that things stay fair," she said. "He's teaching me to toughen up a little bit."

Cyrus' former fiancé has spoken highly of the blonde beauty as well.

"Jennifer cares about the people around her, she has a big heart, she's amazing at it," Hemsworth told Good Morning America. "You couldn't ask for a better co-star than her, she's great."

To date, Lawrence and Hemsworth have not denied or confirmed the dating rumors.
