‘Mario Kart 8’ Limited Edition Release Date & Gameplay Announced
Nintendo recently announced that it will be launching the limited edition of the "Mario Kart 8" bundle for the Wii U on May 30, GameReview reported. The package will include a copy of the game, as well as a Blue Shell figure that comes with a stand.
The limited edition bundle can be pre-ordered but is exclusively available in Europe for now. There are no formal announcements yet as to when the special package will be available in the American and Asian markets.
As an added bonus, those who pre-ordered the standard or limited edition of the game in participating stores will also receive a small token in the form of a Red Shell, Bullet Bill, and Mushroom key-chains.
But as Cinemablend pointed out, the "Mario Kart 8" limited edition bundle is like a marketing ploy to overhype the release of the game and to increase interest in the Wii U console. Notably, it seems the strategy of the electronics giant Nintendo is working since Playeressence recently reported that the game is already sold-out on Amazon.
It's amazing considering that this occurred less than a day after the game was made available for pre-orders. Currently, a message stating, "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available," is posted on the Amazon page of "Mario Kart 8".
The game is the 11th installment of the Mario Kart franchise and the 8th in the main series. Like its predecessors, "Mario Kart 8" follows the traditional gameplay where players race against each other in customized go-karts. Features from the previous games such as motorbikes, hangliders, and underwater races can be accessed in the new game.
Aside from these, the eight game in the series will include HD visuals and abilities that allow racers to drive on walls and ceilings. And, with the new Mario Kart TV, players can share clips of their races through the Miiverse.
