'Halo 5: Guardians' Gameplay & Trailer: Forge Mode Details Revealed in New Teaser [Video]
Less than three weeks before the launch of "Halo 5: Guardians," 343 Industries has now released a new teaser as well as a comprehensive blog on the upcoming sci-fi shooting game's map-editing tool known as Forge mode.
The gaming studio detailed the improvements to Forge mode in a blog post on Halo Waypoint. Josh Holmes, the game's chief designer, mentioned enhancements in areas such as controller based editing, lighting, groups, object palettes and true budget.
To further upgrade the map-editing feature, 343 Industries sought the assistance of five expert Forge users. The Forge "masters" were tasked to determine what tool sets were needed to propel the feature to new heights.
The Forge mode in "Halo 5: Guardians" contains a slew of new canvases for users to create their own multilayer maps. As of the moment, there are only three reported main canvases. These are Space, Alpine and Glacier. Each should offer users with distinct environments to build their maps around.
The feature's improved control scheme prevents users from inadvertently pressing unnecessary buttons by keeping their hands in the "home" position by default. This change will prove to be very useful as objects are now "map autonomous." This means users can drag any object to anywhere on the map.
Not only are objects unconstrained, some have even been given major enhancements. The launch heights and distances of Grav Lifts and Man-Cannons can now be set. Meanwhile, the output direction of Teleporters can be repositioned depending on which way users want players to face when they are spawned.
As to how many objects can be manipulated at the same time, 343 Industries mentioned that the count has ballooned to 64. The task wouldn't be so daunting though as users can freely position the camera to any vantage point they deem fit to edit the objects from.
The aforementioned improvements are just a parcel of what the revamped Forge mode will have in store. However, the feature won't be released alongside "Halo 5: Guardians" on Oct. 27. Instead, it will be a post-release update coming to the sci-fi shooter in December.
The delayed rollout is a smart move for 343 Industries and Microsoft since it will afford gamers with an ample time to complete the game's single-player campaign as well as explore its multiplayer mode, Game Rant reported.
The game's online component has major changes like ADS for all weapons, suit abilities and the addition of a new dedicated sprint button, just to name a few.
