Apart from carrying the expected graphics and performance upgrades, Android 6.0 M also enhances Android Pay and Google Now while toting a new standardized fingerprint-scanning technology and backup data support, Android Pit reported.
Google Now is smarter in three main areas in Android 6.0 M: contexts awareness, providing answers, and helping users take action.
The personal assistant within Google Search can now put into context ambiguous commands such as this, that, and there. Google Now's awareness of approximately 100 million places is supplemented with Google Knowledge Graph's proficiency of more than one billion different entities from television shows, cookbook recipes, to sports teams and a lot more.
The new operating system's support for fingerprint sensor is perfect for unlocking and securing devices. However, it also ties in nicely with Android Pay, Google's new mobile payments system. Android Pay is a free-for-all application programming interface (API). This means websites and other mobile platform developers can interact with it seamlessly.
When battery charge ultimately runs out, Android 6.0 M has support for USB Type-C. The capability not only lets users charge their device three to five times faster, but also use it as a conduit to charge other devices, as per PC Advisor.
Aside from these key features, Android 6.0 M tows a slew of smaller graphics enhancements such as an improved notification system, simple swipe action to access Voice Action from the lock screen and new windows animation that lets elements appear from their point of interaction.
Android 6.0 M also runs on Google's "Intelligent Prediction Engine," allowing it to monitor habits of users and consequently provide a tray of apps that it thinks users will be using throughout different times of the day.
Google's latest mobile operating system was released on Oct. 5.
