‘Wonder Woman’ Plot & Spoilers: DC Film Set in Different Time Periods?
The comic world's most famous heroine is on her way. "Wonder Woman" is one of the DC heroes who will soon be up on the big screen and her debut is set to be one of the most epic yet.
According to a report from Den of Geek, "Wonder Woman" will be taking place across time as DC's most popular heroine jumps to three different timelines for her upcoming solo film. The movie sounds bigger and better than ever as a source told the website that the plot will consist of three acts in three places over three different eras.
The story will kick off in Themyscira, an idyllic island paradise where Wonder Woman originated from and considers home. The second act will be set during the World War I in 1916, weaving the Amazon woman's storyline with the global conflict of the time. Finally, Wonder Woman's story will flow to the current era in time to be an integral part of the "Justice League Part 1," which will be out in the latter part of 2017.
The source also revealed that since the movie will jump across different eras, the iconic Wonder Woman costume will also be tweaked to reflect the changing times.
November will mark the beginning of production for "Wonder Woman" and among its many shooting destinations are London, England and Italy's Basilicata island, which will reportedly be Themyscira in the movie.
Playing Wonder Woman, also known as Princess Diana of Themyscira, is Gal Gadot. Best known for her role in the "Fast & Furious" franchise, the Israeli actress is excited to play another kick-ass female who's known for being a feminine icon.
In a conversation with Interview Magazine last summer, Gadot opened up about the role saying, "I'm very open to all different genres because I'm a very open-minded girl. But eventually, I told them that I wanted to be able to show the stronger side of women... Little did I know that I would land Wonder Woman not long after."
"I'm so excited about this role," she continued. "I feel like I've been given a huge opportunity to inspire people, not only women. And not because of me but because of who Wonder Woman is and what she stands for. There's a lot of responsibility."
Co-starring with Gadot is Chris Pine, who will be playing her love interest Steve Trevor. According to Heroic Hollywood, Sean Bean and Eva Green are also being eyed as potential villains for the upcoming DC movie.
"Wonder Woman" is slated to be launched in theaters on June 23, 2017.
