Singer Becky G revealed that her feisty portrayal of Valentina on Wednesday's episode of "Empire" was a surprise to her family.

The singer told MTV that she watched the episode at home with her family and friends, who were surprised by her character's sexy persona and the bubble bath scene with Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray).

"They are like, 'Oooh girl, what are you doing? What is happening?' My parents were really supportive, but I don't think my grandparents know what's up, which I'm glad they don't," said the star, who described her character Valentina as a bad girl.

The "Break A Sweat" singer said the chance to be a part of the show was incredible and intimidating because, although she is already used to the pressure of fame, the role was her acting debut.

"To have to walk onto the set and be just as feisty as Cookie was like, 'Hold up, I really have to do my research.' I got to know my character -- I was literally breathing, sleeping and living my lines just to make sure that I wasn't wasting anyone's time. I wanted to show them I was serious and I could do it," she said.

In the episode, she had to go head-to-head with the show's matron, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), which the singer described as a major challenge for her.

The 18-year-old explained that she surprised herself and the director. She may have gotten a bit too into her character, getting in Cookie's face while shooting a crucial scene with Henson.

However, regardless of how dedicated the singer was to her role, she and Valentina are not all that similar. The singer explained that the character is her total opposite, reported Variety.

"The one thing I think we do share in common is that we're both very ambitious, but other than that, she's very seductive and conniving and mean," she said. "Once I saw some of the scenes, I knew this was going to be fun to channel."
