Will fans expect a rematch between the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao in 2016?

Speculations arose that a second Mayweather-Pacquiao bout is in the works when Agence France Presse (AFP) noted that "Pacman," is in talks for a proposed fight with "The Money," Yahoo! Sports informed.

In the AFP interview, Pacquiao, who is currently in Doha for the AIBA World Boxing Championships, per Manila Bulletin, reportedly "confirmed he is in negotiations" with the fighter, who defeated him via a unanimous decision on May 2 in Las Vegas. The 36-year-old fighter also shared that he is also in talks with the World Boxing Council Silver title holder Amir Khan, noted AFP.

"Pacman" stated that he would want to schedule the fight before the May elections in the Philippines since he is running for a senatorial seat. The boxer, who is recovering from a sustained shoulder injury while training for his May bout, wants to finalize the plan in November or December.

The Manila Bulletin noted that Pacquiao told Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera that "any fight could take place in the Gulf."

Bob Arum's say

However, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum denied that he is talking with Mayweather, who confirms his retirement through various reports, for another fight. The promoter was dumbfounded about the reported remarks of his fighter.

"I have no idea what he's talking about. He said it, not me. But I have had no talks with anyone about that. None. Zero. Not one. Mayweather is retired and I take him at his word. But second, you know there is no way that Mayweather is ever going to fight in the Gulf, even if he did decide to fight again, so it's all [expletive]," Arum told Yahoo! Sports.

The promoter felt that Pacquiao's statements may have been "lost in translation."

Arum also shared he's also considering Timothy Bradley and Terence Crawford for "Pacman."

Boxing Scene noted that the "People's champ" really wanted to have another shot with Mayweather basing on his interview on ESPN Deportes.

"It would be between seeking revenge (on Mayweather) or alternatively Amir Khan or former junior welterweight titlist Danny Garcia. But I don't know if Mayweather is going to fight again. I think the Khan fight is the most feasible. I'd like to bring the fight to the Middle East...to Doha," Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao- Khan comment

If the Pacquiao-Khan clash pushes through, veteran trainer Joel Diaz told On the Ropes Boxing Radio that Pacquiao should win over the British fighter because if he "loses to Amir Khan, he has no more business in boxing."
