'Fifty Shades Darker' News Update: James Foley to Direct, Has Production Already Begun?
James Foley looks like he will be directing the next two "Fifty Shades of Grey" films, but it remains unclear when production will begin.
"Fifty Shades of Grey" book author E.L. James recently posted several pictures of Niall Leonard and Foley working hard on the film.
The first picture showed the two books side by side, with a notebook underneath.
The second was of Comcast and NBC Universal studios, which may indicate that, since Universal is releasing the film, James may already be working with Leonard and Foley on pre-production at the studio.
Finally, the last picture was of the three, smiling in a selfie, hinting that production may be starting up soon.
Currently, fans are still awaiting casting news for the upcoming film. However, recent reports have noted that the producers have yet to hire a casting director, and as a result, there have been no new updates on the status of the cast. Additionally, Dakota Johnson recently stated that production would begin next year, since the film still has a long time before its release, which is scheduled for 2017.
Meanwhile, producer Dana Brunetti denied rumors that "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill will be involved in the project.
Jamie Dornan will return to the role of Christian Grey, while Rita Ora is slated to return to the cast as well. The upcoming sequel will also feature new characters Mrs. Robinson, John Flynn and Leila Williams, who are supposed to play important roles in the movie.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is said to have more nudity than the first film, which disappointed fans in terms of graphic content. However, there is still a question of whether Universal will permit an NC-17 rating, thereby limiting the movie's audience.
The first film made over $160 million and broke numerous box office records.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters on Feb. 10, 2017.
