Samsung Galaxy S7 vs. Apple iPhone 6s: Samsung's Next Phone Could Have Force Touch?
Apple's newest iPhone, the iPhone 6s could give Samsung some ideas for its next flagship phone the Galaxy S7.
The most notable feature on the iPhone 6s is the technology called 3D Touch. This feature responds in different ways based on the amount of pressure put on the screen. It is almost like a right click button on a PC. Quick taps on the screen will show previews of messages or pictures and longer taps will show full images and more options. Samsung will likely follow with their own version of 3D Touch for the Galaxy S7 with help from a screen technology company named Synaptics, according to Tech Radar.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 has plenty of time before it will be introduced and it has the opportunity to match or beat the iPhone 6s with its features and specifications.
The screen on the Galaxy S7 will likely be 5.2 inches, which is larger than the iPhone 6s, but not as large as the iPhone 6s Plus' 5.5-inch screen. The screen in the Galaxy S7 could feature a sharp resolution of near 4K. The iPhone 6s' resolution is 1,134 x 750 pixels. The Galaxy S7 will probably have the much sharper display.
The camera on the iPhone 6s finally was upgraded to 12 megapixels (MP), up from 8 MP. This means pictures with more resolution, but it is still no as advanced as other competitors that have 16 MP or even 20 MP cameras. The Galaxy S7 is expected to be equipped with at least a 16 MP camera on the rear of the device, and there could even be two lens on the back. The Galaxy S6 already had one of the best cameras in a smartphone and the Galaxy S7 could make improvements on it to make it even better.
The processor inside the iPhone 6s is the A9 chip. This is one of Apple's fastest chips, but it probably won't be as fast or efficient as the Galaxy S7's Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the latest chip from Qualcomm. Rumors point to Samsung using Qualcomm again for their chip instead of their own Exynos processor.
The Galaxy S7 probably will not come out until the second half of 2016, with the announcement expected at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March.
