Considering the way Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" ended, it has hard to believe Morgan and Rick would be on the same page for the premiere of Season 6. What fans already knew going into the episode is that Morgan had witnessed with his own eyes what Rick had become and it horrified him to say the least.

According to TV Guide, the premiere episode picked right up where Season 5 left off, and some fans may have been able to guess what happened.

Before Rick and Morgan could have their heart-to-heart talk, the most zombie filled episode of the series loomed over the heads as a mega-herd approached the gates of Alexandria and forced them to deal with the show's most basic premise: kill and survive.

Most of the episode was really dominated by the zombie showdown, but once it was over, Rick and Morgan finally got their chance to talk.

Before you learn about what happened between the two, just take a step back and realize what kind of history Rick and Morgan had with each other. Morgan was the first person that Rick met coming out of the coma, and he also saved Rick's life. So the two were the original friends of the apocalypse, and they had a kindred connection. Even after Morgan's brief appearance in Season 4 for an episode and his loss of sanity, he trekked forward to find and group up with Rick.

But considering the kind of man Rick has become, it should come as no surprise he locked Morgan up in the only house that could double as a prison in Alexandria.

"I don't take chances anymore," Rick told him.

But Morgan isn't having any of that. He sees Rick as the same person he met at the beginning. He sees the good in him, no matter what he has done or what he is currently doing. He seems to only be interested in bringing Rick back into what he was, which could be a duty he feels given that Rick did something similar for him in Season 4.

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd spoke with TV Guide about the episode.

"The memories of Rick have kept Morgan moving forward in his journey," Hurd told TV Guide. "He wanted to reconnect with Rick, who had never given up on him, and I think that's one of the things that keeps him going."
