For every Hollywood celebrity, to win an Oscar award is the most ambitious ambition ever -- but that's not the case for Johnny Depp.

The man does not want an Oscars. Not now, not ever. The prolific actor who starred in various film hits like "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice in Wonderland", among others, has won awards from Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild. But when he was asked by BBC Newsbeat regarding a possible Oscar win in the future, the 52-year-old humbly declined.

"I don't want to win one of those things ever, you know," Johnny said. "I don't want to have to talk," he added.

The actor's performance as Boston crime lord Whitey Bulger in his new movie, "Black Mass", received applauses from critics. A review from Entertainment Weekly even said that Johnny Depp shined in the movie and that the stellar actor received "a near-unanimous praise for his chilling performance."

While Entertainment Weekly's Chris Nashawaty praised Johnny's performance in the movie, he also said that the movie itself is brilliant as well, but he comments down with a disclaimer: "It's a very good film about a very bad man. But as well-crafted and well-acted as it is, it never rises to greatness because we've been watching this story in one way or another going back to the time of Jimmy Cagney and Edward G. Robinson. Whitey may now be in good (which is to say, bad) company, but he's still the same old monster."

Although his performance in "Black Mass" has been downright brilliant, the actor is far from winning an Oscar award because the movie is not a bid in the first place. Yet, that is not a problem for Johnny at all.

"They gave me one of those things, like a nomination, two or three times," Johnny said, and for the actor a nomination is "plenty." After receiving three nominations for "Finding Neverland" (2004), Sweeney Todd (2007) and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003), Johnny thought it was all enough.

"The idea of winning means that you're in competition with someone and I'm not in competition with anybody," the actor explained why he is not after the award. "I just stick to my guns and do what I want to do. Sometimes people don't like it, but that's all right."

After all, it's totally understandable if Johnny doesn't want to receive an Oscar award. With his exemplary skills in acting that has made a mark in most film viewers, it only proves that he does not need any award to prove his excellence. He just does it naturally sans the pressure of seizing an award.
