UFC: Urijah Faber Thinks Conor McGregor Beating Jose Aldo is Good for MMA
Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah "The California Kid" Faber was interviewed by MMA Junkie and was asked about his thoughts on the upcoming UFC 194 main event. It is a unification bout between UFC Featherweight Champion "Scarface" Jose Aldo and Interim Featherweight Champion "Notorious" Conor McGregor.
"It's up in the air for me. Aldo's a very, very talented fighter and a humble guy and a guy that deserves everything he gets. Conor's kind of the opposite. He's not a humble guy, but he's a good guy and he deserves everything he gets. I would say I have a good relationship with both guys," Faber told MMA Junkie.
"Conor winning is [expletive] good for the sport. People [expletive] love that guy, so I think the big money fights would be with him as champion. So a McGregor win makes a lot of sense but I really like Jose Aldo. It's kind of a win-win for me," he added.

"The California Kid" had a history with both champions as he fought Aldo at WEC 48 in 2010, per Sherdog, while he was the opposite coach to McGregor on the 22nd installment of The Ultimate Fighter. Faber lost convincingly against "Scarface" via a unanimous decision, and "Notorious" tried to take him out in a locker room scuffle at UFC 189.
As for Faber, he is set to return to return to bantamweight after losing to Frankie Edgar as a featherweight. He will be on the UFC 194 card against Frankie Saenz as he tries to get that elusive UFC belt.
The 36-year-old has lost his three UFC title fights, losing to Dominick Cruz in UFC 132 and twice to Renan Barao in UFC 149 and UFC 169. He has a new rivalry when his former student and Team Alpha Male member, current UFC Bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw, left the team to join Elevation Fight Team in Colorado as reported by MMA Fighting.
Dillashaw is scheduled to defend his title against former champ Dominick Cruz at UFC Fight Night 81 on January 19, 2016. If he could defend his title while "The California Kid" climbs up in the rankings as he is currently at number four in the UFC, it would be a great fight that a lot of MMA fans would like to see.
Faber is open to fighting his former student after being asked by MMA Fighting. "At this point, I don't really have a reason not to fight him other than that we've been friends for a long time. Before, it was 'We're on the same team.' We're not, now. I've got to say 'Yes' to it at this point," he answered.
