The fate of characters on "The Walking Dead" is always up for grabs in every episode of the horror filled zombie apocalypse show. That means that no one is off limits, including the main characters of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). But there is one character that creator Robert Kirkman has close to his heart as of lately.

According to Vulture, Kirkman spoke very fondly of the character Carol (Melissa McBride). Although the show has sometimes divested itself from all of the realities of the comics, her living through to Season 6 is one of those that have shined the brightest.

Although Carol was originally meant to be killed off in Season 3, the show took another diversion and kept her alive. Kirkman spoke with audience about her at New York Comic Con this year.

"The Carol that's in the comic was my attempt to show just how broken an individual can become from the zombie apocalypse," Kirkman told the audience at NYCC.

"The Carol in the show, which is a much better character let's be honest, actually is made stronger by all the more horrible things that happen to her in the show. Killing her would definitely not ... we can't do that. Does anybody want Carol to die on the show?"

Of course he was greeted with several people saying "no" and a few rebels saying "yes."

The show has held a lot of momentum for fans of the comic book series because not every episode is a spoiler. Fans of the comic series never know what is going to happen with Dixon because his character was not in the comics. They have no prerequisite knowledge of his fate.

So the fact the show does not follow the comics to the letter is a good thing for die-hard fans of "The Walking Dead." Every episode is a surprise, just like it is intended.
