Motorola and Verizon said a week ago that it will be showcasing the pair of new Droid smartphones at an event in New York on Oct. 27.

With the grand unveiling still a week away, Droid Life has shared leaked print ads revealing the duo's main selling points. Click here and here to view snapshots of the print ads.

The Droid Turbo 2's top feature is its "shatterproof" screen. The latest detail corroborated with a prior Phandroid report suggesting the smartphone will come with a "shatterproof" POLED display.

The slimmer plastic display comes with smaller bezels, making it less vulnerable to breakage than glass. Speaking of busted glass, Verizon plans to offer $300 worth of gift cards or account credit for any smartphone customers would trade-in for their new Droid Turbo 2, even if the handset has a cracked display.

Not only that, the ads revealed that the Droid Turbo 2 can be personalized via Moto Maker. This will mark the first time Motorola's customization tool will extend to a Verizon-exclusive Droid. Customers can choose from several colors and skins including ballistic nylon and leather. Over 1,000 combinations can be made, ensuring total customer individuality.

With regard to the other specs of the Droid Turbo 2, it is said to rock a 5.5-inch screen, Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and a 3,630 mAh battery.

It is flanked on both sides by a 21-megapixel main camera and a five-megapixel front-facing unit. Memory-wise, it is equipped with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB of expandable storage.

Meanwhile, the aptly named Droid Maxx 2 boasts of a 48-hour battery life as its marquee feature. A less advertised albeit equally vital element of the smartphone is its omission of the screen real-estate-grabbing capacitive buttons, which have been a regular fixture on Droid handsets.

The Droid Maxx 2 is basically a rebranded and slightly tweaked version of the Moto X Play, which released elsewhere in the world back in July 2015. Thus, Android Police listed the specs of the Droid Maxx 2 to include:

  • 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD display
  • Snapdragon 615 chipset
  • 21-megapixel main camera
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB or 32 GB of storage space
  • Micro-SD expansion slot

Verizon mobile plans for the Droid Maxx 2 is set to start at $300 while the higher-ended Droid Turbo is said to have a $600 price tag. We'll all know for sure next Tuesday.

In anticipation for the pair's grand unveiling, Verizon recently launched its "Droid Landing" web page, which lets users log in to be up to date with the "latest Droid device launches."
