Windows 10 Smartphones: Microsoft Lumia 950, 950 XL Coming Out Soon? Dummy Units Arrives in India
Microsoft's unreleased pair of Windows 10 smartphones could be available for the South Asian market sooner than expected.
WM Power User discovered on the India-based import and export website Zauba that exactly 1,000 dummy units of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL have arrived in India. Click here and here to view the listings.
It can be remembered that Microsoft just unveiled the duo this month. Now, the latest discovery strongly suggests their launch could be close at hand.
To the uninitiated, dummy units are the ones displayed at retail stores giving would-be buyers the chance to have a feel for the device, check its size, weight, etc.
Considering the Diwali festival (one of India's largest celebrations) falls on Nov. 11, it's probable the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL could release in the country around the same time, or at least shortly thereafter. At any rate, the pair of Windows 10 smartphones are presently listed as "coming soon" on Microsoft's local website in India.
According to PC Advisor, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL features a USB-C port for synching and charging. Both have the ability to fast charge up to 50 percent battery life in only 30 minutes using their included chargers. In the connectivity department, both smartphones support Bluetooth, NFC and dual-band 80.11ac Wi-Fi.
Both also have iris-scanning technology for Windows Hello. This means users can unlock their device by simply looking at them.
Another cool perk running on the Windows 10 Mobile OS is the ability to switch from handset to desktop display via the software feature called Continuum and the external component known as the Microsoft Display Dock. The former enables users to seamlessly continue their work from whatever device they are using while the latter is an optional accessory that lets users connect to a monitor, keyboard and mouse to their handsets so it can operate like a Windows 10 desktop computer.
As for the pair's individual specs, the Lumia 950 includes:
- 5.2-inch 2560x1440 display with 568ppi pixel density
