"Avengers: Infinity War" is slated to be the most expensive film of all time.

Together, "Infinity War" Parts 1 and 2 are expected to cost around $1 billion, making it the most expensive project in film history, according to Bleeding Cool.

Apparently $400 million is set to go toward writers, producers, directors and cast. Robert Downey Jr. alone is slated to get around $200 million for his participation.

In comparison, Marvel's last "Avenger" film "Age of Ultron" cost $280 million, ranking it sixth all time in the most expensive films ever made. "Ant-Man," the other 2015 Marvel movie, cost $130 million.

The combined $1 billion would be greater than the combined $620 million for the three recent "Hobbit" movies. That film trilogy, which was filmed simultaneously, had a reported budget of $745 million, though it received $122 million in tax rebates.

The distinction of single highest costing films of all time goes to the last two "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. "On Stranger Tides" holds the record, costing over $400 million. The film brought in just $241 million in domestic gross, though it did rake in over $1 billion worldwide.

"At World's End," the final piece in the original "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, was the most expensive film at the time, costing about $341 million. That film managed to bring in $963 million worldwide, with a $309 million domestic gross.

Rounding out the top five most expensive films of all time are "Titanic," which cost $294 million; "Spider-Man 3," which cost $293; and "Tangled," which cost $281 million.

"Titanic" was a massive success, taking in over $600 million in domestic gross and over $2 billion worldwide. "Tangled" brought back just $200 million against its budget in domestic gross, but exceeded the $500 million mark worldwide. "Spider-Man 3" earned back $336 million in the US and garnered $890 million worldwide; however, the movie was ultimately the lowest grossing film in the franchise at the time.
