Red-Band Trailer Released for Zombie-Vampire Comedy ‘Freaks of Nature’ [Watch]
In a happy surprise for fans of horror-comedy, a new trailer was released this week for "Freaks of Nature," which is set to hit theaters just in time for Halloween this year.
The film's producers have released a new red-band trailer for the movie, which gives a fantastic preview to say the least. Though the movie features zombies and vampires, perhaps most exciting of all is the main antagonist: aliens.
The movie seems to take cues from other horror-comedy classics like "Zombieland" and "Shaun of the Dead," proof enough that gore can make the perfect match to laughs. One of the best lines from the trailer, and possibly the movie, is a trifecta in which three characters finish each other's sentences.
"Holy." "F*cking." "Brains," say a man, a vampire and a zombie in the clip, at the sight of the coming alien invasion.
Even before the aliens show up, the town in which the movie is set offers an interesting premise. There is a human population, a vampire population and zombie population. That does not mean they live in perfect harmony with one another, as in some popular young adult novels. It just means the protagonists have already accepted constant battle on a personal level.
The onset of the alien invasion presents a new, mutual threat to all three groups. It looks like the zombies will stop eating human brains, the vampires will quit sucking human blood, and the humans will pause killing both groups just long enough to deal with the new threat.
According to Tom Holland's Terror Time, film producer Matt Tolmach is quite excited to get the film out to the masses.
"I'm so excited for audiences to experience 'Freaks of Nature,'" Tolmach told Terror Time. "We're so proud of this amazing cast - Nic, Mackenzie, and Josh, along with Denis Leary, Bob Odenkirk, Keegan-Michael Key, Ed Westwick, Vanessa Hudgens, Patton Oswalt, and Ian Roberts. It's hilarious and terrifying -- a perfect Halloween movie."
The film was directed by Robbie Pickering and will be released on Friday, Oct. 30.
