Fans of he much-loved CW series "Gilmore Girls" will get something they have wanted for a long time: a Netflix revival series.

According to Variety, the series is expected to make its triumphant return via the streaming buffet platform, but there will be some changes that not everyone will like.

For starters, Melissa McCarthy has not signed on for the return, and she is not likely to do so. Fans will at least get back the original two stars, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who played Lorelei and Rory Gilmore.

The original series, which started out on the WB network and migrated to the CW after their merger, ran for seven seasons. The popular show garnered intense dedication from its audience while on the air.

Lorelei and Rory ran a bed and breakfast called The Dragonfly Inn in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The mother-daughter duo were a perfect match for each other, engaging in a shared love of popular culture. They spoke to each other with quick and witty quips that seemed to portray an overabundance of knowledge and experience.

Their business venture was supplemented by Loreli's wealthy parents Richard (Edward Herrmann) and Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop), who were a bit eccentric to say the least.

Deadline reports that Hermann passed away in December last year.

Other stars who graced the show over the years included Scott Patterson, Jared Padalecki, Sean Gunn, Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry and Chad Michael Murray. At the time, all were quite young and in-demand actors.

Padalecki moved on to his own hit series on the network, "Supernatural." Ventimiglia also had a successful run on NBC's "Heroes" and has had a few movie credits to his name. Murray also found success on the network, as well as a few notable film roles.

Netflix is well known for reviving defunct hit TV shows, such as "Arrested Development" and "Full House."

Production on the "Gilmore Girls" revival is expected to begin sometime in 2016. There has been no word yet on when it will premiere on the platform.
